Have you ever wanted to learn more about Electric Vehicles (EVs) but didn’t know where to start? The City of Sault Ste. Marie, PUC Services Inc. (PUC) and the Sault Climate Hub invite residents and business owners to a community EV Showcase. The event takes place Saturday, October 14 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the PUC parking lot located at 500 Second Line E.

 

Members of the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) heard from PUC President & CEO, Robert Brewer on the upcoming launch of the Sault Smart Grid, Canada’s first community-wide smart grid, and the radical transition taking place in the energy sector.

 

Starting May 1st, PUC Distribution Inc. received approval from the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to increase distribution rates. This rate increase will help PUC maintain the reliability of the power grid and repair aging infrastructure. Today marks the end of the winter disconnection ban for residential customers. Customers who are in arrears may have already received a disconnection notice from their distributor in April and should know that there are rules and programs in place to protect them.

 

PUC would like to advise customers in the West End of the City that crews will be in the area to conduct hydrant flow tests over the next few weeks. These flow tests determine the flow rate and water pressure at specific locations within PUC’s water distribution system. These tests are required under the Fire Code to determine how much water would be obtainable during a fire emergency.
