  People & Culture Coordinator

                                                                           

 

PUC Services Inc. (PUC) operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the distribution of electricity, the supply, treatment and distribution of municipal drinking water, and the operation of wastewater treatment facilities. 

PUC offers a dynamic, challenging and rewarding work environment that encourages collaboration and innovative thinking. We are seeking a team member to support the People & Culture Department.   The ideal candidate will be organized, motivated, and customer centric individual that thrives in a team environment.

The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Assist in the recruitment and selection process, as well as coordinate the onboarding and orientation of new employees.
  • Monitor and maintain corporate policies to align with all employment-related legislation, regulations, standards, as well as human resources best practices.
  • Maintain the human resource information systems (HRIS).
  • Maintain employee benefit programs and databases in accordance with employee benefit entitlements.
  • Coordinate and maintain the disability management program.
  • Compile data and analytics required to develop reports and track department key performance indicators (KPI’s).
  • Assist in coordination and scheduling of leadership development and health and safety corporate training.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of employee relations programs.
  • Provide an innovative and customer-centric approach in all interactions with internal and external customers.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of post-secondary education, degree or diploma, in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of related work experience in the Human Resources field, preferably in a unionized environment.
  • Professional designation as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or working towards completion of the designation is an asset. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
  • Experience in recruitment, training, disability management administration and absenteeism management preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and HRIS maintenance.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to apply sound judgement and maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive documents and information.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong team ethic while also highly self-motivated and self-directed.
