PUC Services Inc. operates multiple utilities within and around the City of Sault Ste. Marie, including the supply and delivery of electricity and drinking water, and energy services and the treatment of water and wastewater.

As the Polyphase Technician, your duties will include:

  • Under the direction of the Manager, Supervisor, and/or Lead Hand, promotes the overall efficient, effective and safe deployment of services and equipment to ensure and to maintain accurate metering of customers’ consumption.
  • Installation, maintenance and repair of meters and related equipment.
  • Coordinate the installation of recording instruments with other departments.
  • Adhere to all applicable policies, guidelines, and regulations, (OHSA, EUSA, ESA, etc.).
  • Respond to Customer Concerns regarding electrical and water metering inquiries.
  • Respond to after-hours calls as required.
  • Out-of-town work assignment may be required.

 

Qualifications:

  • A post-secondary diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience in electrical environment, supplemented with a Municipal Electric Utilities Meter Technician Training certification.
  • Must obtain and maintain a Water Meter Installer certificate.
  • Sound knowledge of electrical and water metering systems and the related components.
  • Hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver’s license.
  • Ability to take initiative, work independently, and exercise sound judgement.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to safely operate electronic and mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to operate computerized systems.
  • Ability to be on call on a scheduled basis, and/or respond in reasonable time to after-hours emergency call-outs.
