Reporting to the People and Culture Manager, the Business Partner will provide essential support to our People and Culture team, supporting our employees and ensuring smooth operations within PUC.  

Responsibilities: 

  • Respond professionally to internal and external inquiries through various channels of communication ensuring all information is compliant with the collective agreements, and other relevant legislation. 
  • Support the leadership team through the recruitment and selection processes, as well as coordinating the onboarding and new hire orientation.  
  • Assist in the administration of the disability management program, in compliance with the company policy, OSHA, and the Human Rights Code. 
  • Provide training to internal staff on internal policies, procedures and legislation.  
  • Maintain the HRIS system and other databases, ensuring data accuracy and confidentiality. 
  • Process invoices and visa reconciliations with attention to detail. 
  • Maintain and organize employee files, ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. 
  • Compile data and complete HR reports and dashboards. 
  • Responsible for coordination of employee relations events and committees
  • Serve as the first point of contact for PUC external inquiries, ensuring professional and efficient communication. 
  • Perform other people and culture functions as needed.  

Qualifications: 

  • Completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience in the Human Resources field, preferably in a unionized environment. 
  • Professional designation as a Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or working towards completion of the designation is an asset.  
  • Demonstrated experience and proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.  
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to apply sound judgement and maintain confidentiality while working with highly sensitive documents and information. 
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Strong team ethic while also highly self-motivated and self -directed.
