Reporting to Manager, People and Culture, the Human Resources Intern will provide support in various Human Resources functions with the ability to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field.  

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the recruitment and selection process for both unionized and management employees.  
  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes for new hires and departing employees.
  • Assist with facilitating orientation for new hires.
  • Assist in maintaining and updating employee records and documentation in the HRIS System while in compliance with confidentiality.
  • Assist with employee engagement initiatives and programs.
  • Participate in organizing and coordinating company events, meetings, and training sessions.
  • Assist in the training and development initiatives of the company, with support from the Manager of Safety.
  • Conduct research related to policy development, CA language and case law.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR team, including preparing reports and presentations.

Qualifications:

  • At minimum, completion of post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.  
  • Ability to respect and maintain strict confidentiality when working with sensitive matters and/or information.
  • Demonstrated accuracy, organizational skills, problem-solving and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication abilities, both verbal and written.
  • Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario driver's license.

NOHFC Requirements:

This opportunity is proudly supported by Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) - An Agency of the Government of Ontario. It is funded through the Workforce Development Program and the following eligibility requirements must be met:

  • Candidate must be a new entrant into the workforce, are transitioning to a new career, or the unemployed or underemployed who are entering a new field.
  • Candidate must have not previously participated in an NOHFC funded internship.
  • Candidate must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Candidate must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Once hired, the candidate must reside in the Northern Ontario community in which they are employed.
